SUNSET BAY STATE PARK & CAPE ARAGO, OREGON

We rushed off to get a site at the busy state park only to find we could only have one night as we couldn't fit into the other sites. Our plan was to stop here 2 nights as its going to rain all day tomorrow but we will have to move.
We made use of our early arrival and went for a lovely hike to Cape Arago. The noise from Simpson Reef and Shell Island was amazing – this area is home to thousands of barking California Sea lions, Harbor seals and Stellar Sea lions, they filled every rock and ledge. The offshore rocks, islands and reefs provide breeding and resting areas all within Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge.
