MORRO BAY AND ROCK - THE PACIFIC OCEAN

fantastic fish and chips for lunch

ROY MAY HAVE A SURF OR PERHAPS JUST A PADDLE!
Sea Otter feeding her huge baby
Joy of joys, we reach the ocean and its so much cooler, down to around 26oC and a breeze.
We had a walk round Morro Bay, we've passed this way before but didn't stop then. A pretty place overlooked by the huge Morro Rock, a busy place with all the fit young Californians surfing – Roy managed a paddle!
Basking in the clear waters of the harbour was a raft of about ten sea otters, one feeding her young who looked bigger than she did! Hundreds of pelicans and several seals sunbathing on the pontoons.
We camped for the weekend at Hearst Castle/San Simeon State Park on the undeveloped site. Everyone here had to bring their own water supply, there was not a drop available, they are certainly in drought mode here.

While here we will not be visiting Hearst Castle as we toured it last year so if anyone is interested you will have to look back on the blog. It is a fabulous fantasy castle – a must to see, should you ever visit this area.

RAFT OF SEA OTTERS IN MORRO BAY

We spent two super days exploring Estero Bluffs and Harmony Headlands State Parks, whale spotting and hiking to remote areas, the sun continued to shine along with a blustery wind.
