HECATA HEAD LIGHTHOUSE

We have driven this coastline the other way in 2010 and Roy and I have decided we have shades of memory loss as there are areas we don't remember, but most of it was in fog and rain!

We continued north up the 101 with a slight detour to Deans Creek to see the Roosevelt Elk, we saw these 5 years ago and the herd has certainly grown.

On to Washburne State Park just outside Florence where we got one of the last sites again, high in the forest about half a mile from the beach. Today was our first day of rain, thankfully the forecast was partly wrong as it was supposed to rain all day but we managed to escape much of it.
Once we had bagged our site we unhitched and drove back to see Hecata Head lighthouse, I love lighthouses! Unlike most Fresnel lens of the day (used in lighthouse) which were made in France, the lens at Hecata Head was made in England, and is the largest English lens of its type in the US. Hecata's light is the brightest light on the Oregon coast.
