MANATEE & BLUEGRASS - FLORIDA

Manatee

Manatee Springs State Park - can you find Roy?

Manatee Spring

What a wonderful weekend - we saw our first and only Manatee at the Manatee Springs State Park. What a strange but graceful creature, he stayed just long enough for me to snap a picture then away he glided.
We then set off to find Terry and Sally some English friends we met last year over here, where we had been invited to a Bluegrass Get Together at Harper's Hide - A - Way. After going in circles for about an hour and several phone calls to Terry we finally found the place. Trailers everywhere - can't understand how we managed to drive by it the first time but we made it in the end with Terry standing in the middle of the road waving us in!
Had a wonderful pot luck supper then spent the evening listening to superb bands playing Bluegrass music and having lots of fun.
Next day we had a huge breakfast courtesy of the superb hosts and enjoyed catching up with our friends travels. Despite some sprinkles of rain we had a great time and wouldn't have missed it for the world. Great hospitality and superb folks.
