CORKSCREW SWAMP SANCTUARY - FLORIDA

We spent a couple of nights at Punta Gorda, a pretty town on the coast so we ventured in to see the highlights and found a bar at the edge of the water with live music and dolphins playing. We then watched a beautiful sunset and another dolphin at Fisherman's Village and ended the evening with a meal at the Golden Corral - a buffet dinner where you eat too much! (Thanks Terry)

Next day we went to Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary - wonderful! (Thank you Nigel & Terry).
A two mile boardwalk through swamp - we saw Alligators big and babies, Red shouldered Hawk, Swallowtailed Kite, Barred Owls, Momma and two young Raccoons, Cottonmouth Snake, Lizards, White Ibis, Anhinga, Wood Stork, Beautiful butterflies and flowers, Night Heron, Great Blue Heron, Little Blue Heron and the sweetest Carolina Wren.
We were among the last to leave - the volunteer had to nearly push us out! It's a shame they close at 5-30 just when the swamp is coming to life. We had a great day - Florida you're growing on me!
