OUR LAST DAY IN PARADISE

Weather improved, temperature didn't, still 5 to 7oC We had some sun and the day ended with a few sharp showers which gave us pretty rainbows and a super sunset.
We started the day with a short walk along the Gardner River to Boiling River where there were plenty of folk sat in the hot springs, back for lunch then we drove around some of our favourite places – Calcite Springs, Tower Falls, the north rim of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, which was magnificent, we have always been to the south rim. We ended the day with an evening drive to Hayden Valley which was quite devoid of visible animals except the coyote I snapped just as he caught a mouse!

CALCITE SPRINGS

We saw Bison, Mule Deer, one Grizzly bear (we are sure it was the same one we saw last year), a black bear and cub from a distance, Elk, Coyote, a momma bighorn with her baby sat at Calcite Springs, one bald eagle and tundra swans.

TOWER FALLS

BLACK BEAR AND CUB

MOUNT WASHBURN

For those of you who are thinking of visiting Yellowstone, you don't have to go hiking in the wilderness to see all this, in fact we hardly ever see wildlife when hiking, they see us first.
All these were seen from the road as we drove around this magical wonderland.

Goodbye Yellowstone – you are simply the best!
