ARCHES NATIONAL PARK, UTAH

We headed south after leaving Dinosaur, passing through Rangely, which had a sign saying “A great place to live” - I don't think so, it was surrounded by nodding donkeys and gas installations and very barren.
Drove over the 8268 ft Douglas Pass and down to the I-70, along the pretty Colorado Riverway Road, and stopped at Dewey Bridge beside the Colorado River for two nights hoping to get in a site at Moab – typical we have only been here once before and it was Memorial Day and Moab was heaving! Same again but this time there is a half marathon, its Fall break for kids and a Jeep Jamboree! We managed to get a site for Saturday.

We spent a day at Arches National Park – this land boasts one of the world's greatest densities of natural arches. Over 2,000 catalogued arches range in size from a three foot opening, the minimum considered an arch, to the longest, Landscape Arch, measuring 306 feet base to base. We hiked Devil's Trail and primitive trail – about 7 miles in the hot sun.

Private Arch - no one there but us unlike any other Arch you had to do the primitive trail to see this one

The Japanese Jump - its what all the Japanese tourists do when they are taking photos, I waited till there was no one around to give it a go!
