DINOSAUR NATIONAL MONUMENT, UTAH

Left the vast plains of Wyoming and into Utah – red rock country. Needed wifi again as things happening with our rental house, tenant had given notice but left house in a bit of a state, thank goodness for my niece and her husband!

We enjoyed catching up with great friends via Facebook chat, who gave us welcome advice about visiting Dinosaur NM. Thank you TelSal!

We drove to Dinosaur National Monument and were amazed! It is the most unique show of dinosaur fossils ever – they have kept part of the quarry wall where hundreds of dinosaur bones were excavated and put a building round it. We have actually touched real dinosaur bones! It was simply sensational.
We did the short Fossil Discovery trail out in the hot sunshine, 26oC.

This we have done before, we just found out, when we visited in 2008 the main building with the wall in was closed, the buildings were falling down so they built a new visitor center further down the road and re- built the Carnegie Quarry Exhibit Hall containing the wall of fossils – we wondered how we had missed such a memorable exhibit, it only opened in 2011.

We camped in the Green River campground at the side of the pretty Green River then drove the Cub Creek Road seeing beautiful rock formations, petroglyphs and the Josie Morris cabin – a real pioneer woman.
