VENTURA

PYRAMID LAKE
RINCON PARKWAY CAMPSITE ALONG THE ROAD

SANTA MONICA MOUNTAIN HIKE

We left Hesperia and drove the beautiful, twisty, deserted mountain roads, missing Los Angeles totally. We stayed a night at Pyramid Lake then headed for Ventura. It took us about 2 hours to find a campsite, mostly state beach parks they were so expensive and offered nothing, so we ended up on the Rincon highway, parked sideways to the ocean for $28 but at least we could leave the generator on without bothering anyone – what with the noise of the ocean, the road at the side of us, the train line at the other side of the road and the interstate just beyond and the TV on – the generator noise was lost! Thankfully all stopped at night except the ocean of course! Oh – did I say we are in a Tsumani Hazard zone!

We spent 4 nights at our salubrious campsite, we drove to the Santa Monica Mountains one day for a hike, walked the beach and spent a memorable day in the Channel Islands National Park.
