HALEAKALA NATIONAL PARK

Today we drove up to Haleakala National Park, at 10024 feet, we had our head in the clouds!
A wild unhospitable but stunning area, we wandered around at the summit in the hot sun.

We saw the Silversword plant(Ahinahina) it grows only on the slopes of Haleaka and nowhere else in the world. Sadly none were flowering, it can live up to 50 years, flowers only once then dies.
Roy also spotted Nene, the Hawaiian Goose, and for once they stood still for their photos.

Our last night in Maui, we dined at the Hard Rock Cafe and listened to some ageing rockers play while I ate blackened marlin and Roy had the usual Burger!
