MT. WASHBURN HIKE AND BEARS!

I had the bug! I needed to see more bears so I suggested we do a hike near Dunraven Pass, an area where bears had been seen. We thoroughly enjoyed the 3.2 mile hike up to Mt. Washburn, with its fire lookout/weather station. The views at the top at 10,234 ft. revealed the whole of Yellowstone, an awe inspiring sight. We had lunch and talked with a couple from Scotland and a guy from London then headed back.

MT WASHBURN- SEE THE ONE WITH THE FIRE TOWER ON IT

SLIGHTLY CLOSER TO THE FIRE TOWER AND NO WE ARE NOT LEANING! I COULD NOT FIND A LEVEL ROCK TO PUT THE CAMERA ON!

We drove on a short distance to the place we had been told a black bear with cubs had been that morning and there they were again! Beautiful sow and her three healthy, chunky cubs. I was in seventh heaven, I could have watched them all day.

BYE BYE - EXITING LEFT!

WAIT FOR ME!

The light was fading and the bears had gone into undergrowth so we left and came across a row of guys with scopes, I shot out of the car knowing it must be something more than bison - a red fox! We have never seen one in Yellowstone, it was super, watching it hunt its prey then pounce. It just gets better and better – another wonderful, memorable day in Yellowstone. We were supposed to be moving to Tetons next day but decided to stay another day.
