PARADISE IN THE U.P. MICHIGAN

Our tour round Lake Superior

Au Sable lighthouse

Grand Sable Dunes

Grand Marais

We continued our Superior Circle Tour going east, stopped to visit Au Sable Lighthouse, one of the most remote on Superior. Sable Falls and Grand Sable Dunes were nearby and I found it difficult to leave the beautiful beach, beachcombing for unusual rocks I carried pockets of them back to bring home (highly illegal as we are in a National Park, this is still part of Pictured Rocks.) Roy managed to find us 20 miles of dirt road to travel along!
Not far, he said, then we took a turning that was not as map, he flagged someone down to check we were on the right road, good job we were, there was nowhere to turn around.

Friends!

Whitefish Point Lighthouse

Whitefish Point Lighthouse
We camped for a few days at Tahquamenon Falls at Riversbend campground, unusually full, we thought the schools were back but seems some are not.
We had a wonderful afternoon meeting up with friends, Ron and Claudette. We had fish and chips in Paradise!
Whitefish, freshly caught from Lake Superior - gorgeous. They drove us to Whitefish Point Lighthouse,  did some more beachcombing and managed to see the sights before the rain arrived. Sadly we said goodbye,  wondering if we would ever see them again. Such Special people!
