LABOR DAY WEEKEND AT VAN RIPER STATE PARK

Labor Day weekend so we booked a site, something we rarely do. We are on a busy site at the side of a lake. Everyone is out camping for the last weekend of summer! Of course it rained today, our first day of rain since we arrived, not counting the night storms! Temperature started at 20oC but by evening was 15oC - pyjamas soon!
Big Bay Point Lighthouse

We spent today driving up a dirt road to Big Bay then back to Marquette, lighthouses, views in the haze and rain, Corn snake eating a live mouse and a stop at Best Buy to suss out a laptop.
We went into a nature center and the man said we were just in time to see the corn snake being fed, I didn't realise he was going to give it a little white mouse! It was fascinating when I overcame the shock of seeing the mouse being squeezed to death! Dont look at the following photos if you are squeemish!
just caught it, squeezing it to death

down it goes - whole face first

These two photos are of the Superior Dome in Marquette, the world's largest wooden dome made of 781 Douglas fir beams and 108.5 miles of fir decking. Equal to a 14 story building with over 5 acres of space under its roof.
