BISON AND BISON AND BISON - OH MY!

We woke to ice on the inside of the windows and you could see your breath! So Roy got out at 8am to put generator on, the sun came over the hill at 8-30am and we got out of our cosy bed at 9am. Temperature was minus 8oC first thing and the warmest it reached this day was 14oC but the sun was out all day making it wonderful.

We have visited Yellowstone five times now but we have never seen as many bison, hundreds and hundreds of herds between Mammoth and Lamar Valley.
We did a lovely six mile hike at Slough(Slew) Creek – had fun avoiding the 100+ Bison herd who were blocking the trail. We saw Pronghorn and Elk so high up on the mountain and as we drove back through Mammoth the Bull Elk was putting on a show, bugling and attempting to mate with the many females around. Typical – none were interested!
