CHEROHALA SKYWAY, TENNESSEE

Start of Cherohala Skyway

We reluctantly left Nashville, vowing to return. Southeastwards we drove across the Cherohala Skyway, 55miles twisting through the Cherokee and Nantahala National Forests connecting Tellico Plains in southeast Tennessee to Robbinsville, North Carolina. It took over 30 years to build and cost $100 million. Spectacular views, reaching an elevation of 5390ft they call it A Drive Above the Clouds.
Spirit Ridge on the Skyway 4950 ft
The Cherokee lived here hundreds of years before the enforced Trail of Tears march
Hooper Cove 3096ft
