A HIKE IN THE MISTS - YELLOWSTONE

The weather forecast was right, cloud and rain. We did a 7 mile trail up into the clouds and rain which brought us back to the upper Mammoth Hot Springs on a trail most people would not even see, gave us a different view. This is what we saw:

Great start to the wet morning, a third mouse in the trap and worse still the generator would not start, this little gem has lasted 8 years, it makes a hell of a noise and each time it doesn't start Roy always fixes it...not this time, so off he went into Gardiner to buy a new plug, they only had one that was too long and one a bit shorter than original. He got the shorter one stuck it in and bingo! Off she goes again – I have never been so grateful to hear that horrid loud noise! We are not able to camp on basic sites without it – just hang in there my little beauty only 5 more weeks to go!

The afternoon turned out to be fabulous, because it was rainy we took a drive to Lemar Valley. We had such a laugh, I was taking a photo at Undine Falls when we saw a group of animals....humans over on the far cliff side, they appeared to be taking their clothes off – yes they definitely took their clothes off, then with a whoop ran down the hillside to the edge, this they did twice – kids today eh!

We were looking for wolves, but were so lucky to see a couple of mountain goats, high up on a cliff. A first for here with mountain goats!
Scenery improved as we turned back and sun appeared, we reached the balmy temperature of 7oC!
Saw Bison, pronghorn, red tailed hawk, mule deer and just as I had given up thinking I would not see my beloved bears – there was a bear jam!
A black bear with cub – heaven! Almost back to site and a beauty of a bull elk walked across the road – bugling! What an end to a perfect day!
