GALVESTON ISLAND TO BOLIVAR PENINSULA. TEXAS

Headed east along the Gulf of Mexico, we were thinking about going to NASA Houston but after reading what it had to offer we changed our minds.
We have been fortunate to have visited Cape Canaverel last year which we found fascinating so will give Houston a miss.  Hurrah - says Anne (I hate cities).

From the song of the same name
Hugging the Gulf coast road as much as possible we headed over the $2 toll bridge to Galveston Island, there was no sign of damage from the tennis ball size hail stones that landed here yesterday, just big puddles.

All the houses are built on stilts, at certain places along the road the ocean looks higher than us! Roy in seventh heaven again with all the birds.

Weather is nothing to write home about - walk on the beach this morning saw me in long trousers, hoodie, gilet and gloves! Its about 14oC and cloudy.

This huge bee hive was at the sanctuary - even the bees were asleep with the cold!

We left on the Bolivar Ferry from Galveston to Bolivar Peninsula, a free 20 minute ride and spent the afternoon at a bird sanctuary - mainly looking for birds, they like us, seemed to be feeling the cold and were hiding.
Heading into Louisiana soon and some sun hopefully.
