SOUTH BOUND DOWN THE BAJA

Much of the Baja is rugged mountainous desert with one road, we continued heading south and called at Santa Rosalia to see Iglesia de Santa Barbara, a Gothic inspired structure of galvanized steel designed by Gustave Eiffel of Eiffel tower fame. Originally created for the 1889 Paris World Expo, it was left in a warehouse in Brussels then discovered and sent to Baja by officials of the mining company. Section by section it was transported and reassembled. We had moved across the Baja from the Pacific side to the Sea of Cortez on the eastern side, where we camped on the beach – beautiful! Water temperature was wonderful – Jamie said! We just paddled!

What is that!

MARSHMALLOW TIME

Called in at Loreto and found a sort of proper Supermarket, life here seems far removed from home, but great to experience. There was a cruise ship in and the place was full of Americans. The road then took us back to the Pacific side, more agricultural and populated from the central Baja and maybe chance to whale watch again – watch this space!
