FINALE RODEO AT PENDLETON ROUND-UP

We have had a fabulous time here at Pendleton, glorious weather and fun filled days. The last rodeo saw the pro riders receiving their prizes and big money. HAPPY CANYON OUTDOOR PAGEANT & WILD WEST SHOW

On Friday evening we went here – Happy Canyon depicts the American West, beginning with a portrayal of early Native American culture, continuing with the arrival of Lewis and Clark, followed by the prairie schooners of the Oregon Trail pioneers and concluding with a reenactment of a frontier town’s rollicking main street mishaps.

The show was steady, with some fun parts, but well portrayed including the shocking treatment received by the Native Americans.

NATIVE AMERICAN DANCES

We walked back to see the Native American dances, they were spectacular and we were privileged to watch the Grizzly Bear Dance performed by a Native American from British Columbia, this special dance has only been seen for the last five years and was mesmerizing, a talented lady who talked about her faith and beliefs.

WESTWARD HO! PARADE AT PENDLETON ROUND-UP

What a fabulous parade – an hour and half of covered wagons, stage coaches, pack trains, oxen and mule teams traversed the city streets just as they did the Oregon Trail 150 years ago. No motors allowed. It also included American Indians in full regalia. There were around 600 animals in the hour's parade.
